Introduction

Purpose

The purpose of Aria Montessori School is to help your child emotionally, socially, intellectually and physically, not as a replacement, but as a supplement to the home.

Program

  • Preschool through Kindergarten
  • Age requirement for enrollment is 3 years (and toilet trained) up to 4 years, 2 months old
  • We offer an excellent Montessori academic program stressing:
    • Each child's individual progress at his/her own rate of development
    • Less dependency on adults which leads to higher self esteem and confidence
    • Child learns to care for his/her own needs
    • Child learns to care for and respect the environment
    • Emphasis is on activity; upon learning by doing
    • New activities will be presented when the child is ready
    • We offer mixed age classes (3 - 5 years). Each child is free to learn at his own level, pace and degree of interest. Younger and older children learn from each other. Each one is both a student and a teacher.
  • We take at least four field trips per school year
  • We offer a good balance between the inside class program and outside playtimes
  • A weekly Spanish class is offered as part of the program
  • A weekly creative music class and creative movement class are offered for an additional fee
  • A nap is offered from 12:30 - 2:00 pm to those children who want or need one
  • Your child will be in a natural environment blending the outdoors and indoors
  • He/she will be in touch with natural things
    • Many trees, plants and the children's garden
    • Natural foods for snacks served twice a day
  • We serve milk at lunchtime. Parents send a lunch
  • We offer peanut free eating areas for those children with allergies
  • Our teacher/student ratio is 1/12
  • Your child will have constant reinforcement that he/she is terrific! And that he/she is a very special part of our school

Staff

We require college educated and Montessori certified teachers for our staff. The teachers are special people who have warmth, friendliness and the ability to understand and accept the individual differences in children.
